The water/windproof louis Garneau WindTex Shoe Cover keeps the elements outside your shoe where they belong during cold weather rides. Constructed from a WindTex fabric combined with a fleece liner to provide warmth and comfort with a reinforced toe rubber patch to prevent wear-and-tear. I wore these shoe covers on a drizzly day when the temp was about 40 degrees. They kept my feet relatively warm, but the material was thinner than the typical neoprene so I am not sure how warm they will be when the temperature really drops. Even though it wasn't raining very hard, however, some moisture got onto the top and back of my shoes; extremely annoying since I bought these specifically for extreme wet weather. They were fairly easy to get on, but I had a hard time getting the zipper to go all the way up. I don't have large calves, and as a woman wearing a man's bootie I didn't expect to only be able to zip the zipper halfway. I liked that there was room for the pedal mounting hardware, and that the bootie tread looks like it will stand up to wear and tear. I will keep these for damp or dry days when the temp is between 30 and 40 degrees. For real New England cold and wet weather, my search for the perfect shoe cover goes on! I'm trying to bike commute throughout the winter, so I am pretty picky about this stuff.
